    Below are the 2025 scholarships for which you are eligible to apply based on the information provided in your application.

    Next are your General Requirements. These are documents like the Application Scholarship Essay which are required by many of our scholarships. A single copy of these documents will be applied to all corresponding scholarships on your list.

    Scholarship Specific Requirements are documents that are unique to a single scholarship. When you select a scholarship with specific requirements, the upload fields will open immediately below the scholarship description.

    $1000:  Available to first-year full-time students entering an approved degree or diploma program.

    $1000: Available to full-time students entering the final year of an approved degree or diploma program.

  • Casey van Maris Memorial Scholarship
    $1,000: Available to first-year full-time students entering an approved degree or diploma program with a focus on ornamental horticulture.

  • Don Salivan Memorial Fund
    $1,000: Available to first-year full-time students entering an approved degree or diploma program with a focus on ornamental horticulture.

  • Hensbergen-DeGroot Scholarship
    $500: This scholarship is named in honour of Mr. Tony DeGroot and Mr. John Hensbergen, first generation Canadians who made significant contributions to landscape and horticulture industry. 

    Available to first or second-generation Canadians enrolled in an approved degree or diploma program, the prize is awarded to contribution-oriented candidates with a demonstrated commitment to their family, fellow colleagues, their community and the industry itself.

    Legal documentation, such as birth certificates, that indicate that you are a First-Generation Canadian (Permanent resident or citizen, born outside of Canada) or a Second-Generation Canadian (Canadian born citizen with at least one parent who was born outside of Canada)

    • Content: Outline the importance of good communication in facilitating collaboration between the client, designer, suppliers and contractor in the creation of extraordinary outdoor spaces.
      You should seek to touch on the importance of collaborative communication throughout the project development process, from inception to completion, and ideally use examples from their own experience.

    $600: Available to registered Horticultural Technician (441c) Apprentices and students accepted to or enrolled in an approved Horticultural Technician (441c) Pre-Apprenticehship Program.

    Requirements:

    • Apprenticeship Registration.

  • Peter Olsen Scholarship Fund
    $1000: Available to registered Horticultural Technician (441c) Apprentices and students accepted to or enrolled in an approved Horticultural Technician (441c) Pre-Apprenticehship Program.

    Requirements: 

    • Scholarship Application Essay, 
    • Secondary School Transcript (or acceptable alternative), 
    • Apprenticeship Registration. 
    • Current Resume or Work History.
  • OHTF Postgraduate Scholarships
    $1,000 - Available to a student entering a PhD or Masters program in Horticulture or Landscape Architecture at an accredited Ontario university. 

    The prize is awarded to the applicant with the best overall average. 

    Requirements: 

    • All transcripts from our current graduate program, 
    • Scholarship Application Essay
  • Neil Vanderkruk Scholarship

    Available to full-time students enrolled in an approved degree or diploma program who:

    • Have at least two summers employed by a Landscape Ontario member company, and;
    • Have volunteered in their community.

    Special consideration will be given to those applicants who demonstrate one or more of the following: 

    • Entrepreneurial spirit
    • Passion for furthering the horticulture industry
    • Strong leadership abilities

    Requirements:

    • Resume: Detailing employment with a Landscape Ontario member company and required volunteer experience
  • Neil Vanderkruk Scholarship Requirements
    This scholarships requires additional submissions based on the follow criteria.

    Fanshawe College: Horticultural Technician Program

    $1000:  Available to full-time students enrolled in Level 2 of the Horticulture Technician program at Fanshawe College. 

    The scholarship is awarded to the applicant with the highest grade point average.

  • London Chapter Scholarship Fund:
    Fanshawe College - Landscape Design Program
    $1000:  Available to full-time students enrolled in level 4 of the Landscape Design Program at Fanshawe College. 

    The scholarship is awarded to the applicant with the highest grade point average.

    Requirements: 

    • Post-Secondary Transcripts
       
  • Upper Canada Chapter Scholarships
    $1000: Created by the Upper Canada Chapter of Landscape Ontario, the Dan Clost Scholarship, Lisa Purves-Smith Scholarship, and Esmonde-White Scholarship support individuals from diverse backgrounds pursuing post-secondary education in horticultural-related fields. Each scholarship in named in honour of an individual who significantly contributed to the advancement of horticultural education and awareness. 

    In addition to the $1000 award for each scholarship, recipients have access to professional development opportunities, including workshops, conferences, and industry-related events. Mentorship programs will be available to provide guidance and support throughout their educational journey.

    Available to registered apprentices and all post-secondary students enrolled in accredited horticulture programs lasting more than one year who reside in the geographic boundaries of the Upper Canada Chapter Region.

    Requirements: 

    • Apprenticeship Registration
    • Most Recent Transcript (or acceptable alternative), 
    • Scholarship Application Essay, 
    • Current Resume or Work History, 
    • Proof of Residency must be located within the specified geographic area.
       
  • Waterloo Chapter Dave Wright Scholarship
    $2000: Available to registered apprentices and all post-secondary students enrolled in accredited horticulture programs lasting more than one year who reside in the geographic boundaries of the Waterloo Chapter.

    Requirements: 

    • Proof of acceptance, enrolment or registration in an approved program.
    • Proof of residency within the Waterloo Chapter boundaries.
    • Dave Wright Scholarship Essay or Video Submission.
  • Dave Wright Scholarship Requirements:
    This scholarships requires additional submissions based on the follow criteria.

    All applicants are required to submit sufficient proof of Ontario residency and acceptance, enrolment or registration in an approved program.
